Enloe Hosts Annual Variety Show

From prodigy piano-playing to magical acts of Martial Arts, the Variety Show once again shared a glimpse to the endless talent that flourishes at Enloe. “We definitely saw a ton of talent and a variety of skills come out this year,” says Sophomore Council President, Abby Pender, who was part of the judging committee for this year's selective show. A showcase of diversity hosted by Student Council, the Variety Show serves as an annual fundraiser for Prom and the Senior Picnic.

This past Friday, the show started right off the bat with the humorous banter between this year’s well-spoken senior emcees, Cameron Riley and Jack Thomas. With their affinity for making cringe-worthy puns and jokes, it was clear that the audience was going to be in for a treat that began with an incredible sparring scene between Ethan Sites (12) and Nicholas Lai (10). This act was followed by a diverse display of talented singers, instrumentalists, and songwriters such as Jamie Martinsen (11) accompanied on the piano by Abrianna Harmon (11), Robbie Hinton (10), Arden Snead (11) and duo Anushna Saha (12) accompanied on the guitar by Rishi Parikh (12). “I like performing for my school and for my peers because it allows me to say things through my music that I wouldn’t usually say on a daily basis,” says Arden Snead, who performed her original song “Fire” on Friday night. Additionally, pianist Siddhartha Das (12) performed a dance-worthy mix of “Bad” by Michael Jackson and “Havana” by Camila Cabello.

There was also much turnout in musical groups this year at Variety Show, with bands such as Br0wn T0wn and Extra Sauce rocking out on the Enloe stage. It was fascinating to see students integrate different harmonies and melodies between keyboards, electric guitar, voice, drums, and even a saxophone. Last but not least, there were two dance showcases during the Variety Show this year: Blue Tartevet (12) and Enloe Dance Pe Chance. Blue delivered an enthralling dance solo that featured energetic combinations of back-bending movements and inhumane amounts of flexibility. The Enloe Dance Pe Chance (DPC) team delivered an Indian dance routine that included some of the best choreography that Bhangra and Bollywood have to offer. “Performing at Variety Show with so many friends was absolutely exhilarating. The whole process of practices and rehearsals leading up to the event made performing on stage even more special,” says Meghana Sankaran (12), member of DPC.

This year’s Variety Show was definitely one for the books. While also staying true to its roots by giving the opportunity for all students to share their talents and abilities, we also were introduced to new and unique acts that are not seen at just any ordinary talent show. We can’t wait to see what the Enloe student body has to offer through Variety Show next year!
