Science Olympiad Does it Again
Science Olympiad does it again! After many hard fought competitions, Enloe’s science olympiad finished 13th in the nation at this weekend’s national tournament, improving their score significantly from last year. Science olympiad Is comprised of competitions throughout several different disciplines of science, and the winners and their medals are summarized below:
6th place – Astronomy – Eric Wang/Sahil Pontula
3rd place – Chemistry Lab – Sahil Pontula/Eric Wang
6th place – Disease Detectives – Colin Wang/Jerry Yu
2nd place – Mission Possible – Tushaar Jain/Nitu Renganathan
1st place – Thermodynamics – Sahil Pontula/William Zhang
2nd place – Water Quality – Jerry Yu/Benet Ge
3rd place - Herpatology – Yujia Shen/Susi Feng
This year, William Zhong and Sahil Pontula became the first students in Enloe’s history to win a science
olympiad national championship, placing first nationwide for thermodynamics. This is a truly remarkable accomplishment, not only for our new national champions but for all the Enloe students who placed this year. Over 7,800 schools nationwide compete for the title of national champions; Enloe’s brightest had to win event after event just to advance to the final round, passing through the invitational, regional, state, and eventually national level.
